I’ve just uploaded what may be the first of a series of videos about how to REALLY LEARN chords on the guitar.
This is how guitarists SHOULD learn chords on the guitar and yet many guitarists still don’t get it after a lifetime of playing. No matter how well you think you know how to play a major chord, you don’t know it, or your fretboard, well enough. You’ve learnt it wrong.
Guitarists don’t fully understand their fretboard. This is inextricably linked with a lack of musicianship in guitarists.
Whether you know just one open position major chord shape or you know all five CAGED shapes across the fretboard, you don’t know it well enough. You no doubt have ‘mystery areas’ on your fretboard or you have a small collection of shapes (CAGED) that, to you, are how you can play a major chord. That’s not enough.
Here’s how to REALLY LEARN A MAJOR CHORD on the guitar. Using a C major chord in a step by step guide, this video explains how major chords work on a guitar fretboard and by the same token, how your fretboard works. And guess what? It’s easy! You will have a deep, thorough knowledge of your entire fretboard and major chords without having to learn lots of seemingly unrelated chord shapes.
